I have participated in Colorado Gives Day for several years now. Fundraising for non-profit organizations is challenging because you are constantly finding new ways to ask for money, and at times when the strategy is not right, it can feel like desperation. This is one of the reasons I like the Colorado Gives Day event. This state-wide celebration gives non-profit organizations a clear reason to reach out and ask the public for donations.
Colorado Gives Day Event
Colorado Gives Day is hosted by the Colorado Gives Foundation and presented by FirstBank. While called a “day,” it is actually a weeks-long event meant to “celebrate the impact of coming together and lifting up our local communities.” FirstBank and other generous donors incentivize donations during the event period through their creation of the $1 million dollar and up incentive fund. This incentive fund means every donation during Colorado Gives Day goes further with a boost from the incentive fund.
Why I like the Event
Aside from the point I made above, I like the Colorado Gives Day event for a couple different reasons. First, they take both small and large donations. While you made not be in a place to donate hundreds of dollars, you can donate as little as $5 to make a difference for your favorite non-profits through this campaign. The low donation minimum also makes it easier to donate to multiple organizations, so you don’t have to choose just one non-profit to support!
A second reason I am fan of Colorado Gives Day comes from my work on fundraising campaigns in the non-profit sector. The Foundation makes participation in Colorado Gives Day as easy as submitting your organizations information, waiting for approval, and setting up a user-friendly free organizational profile on their website that can accept donations all year long. They also provide webinars leading up to the event to help non-profits plan and make the most out of their participation. Overall, Colorado Gives Day is a wonderful example of the for-profit and non-profit sectors coming together to support their communities!
Colorado Gives Day 2024
For Colorado Gives Day 2024, we have two different partnering organizations that will participate in the event. Applied Worldwide is proud to partner with both the Hartman Castle Preservation Corp., and the Colorado Dance Collective. If you feel compelled, we would be thrilled to see you make a donation to either or both of these wonderful non-profit organizations.
