You’ve seen them. The ones who seem to always be on the move. One day they’re sipping espresso in Rome, the next they’re posting photos from a beach in Bali, and it’s not even the weekend yet. They’re probably loaded with so many travel tips, because all they ever do is travel, right?
Honestly, it’s hard to not be envious of such a lifestyle! Meanwhile, someone else is just trying to figure out how to squeeze a vacation into their PTO without going broke (and actually being able to use their PTO). So how exactly do some travelers make it look so easy?
Well, it turns out, constant travel isn’t always backed by secret riches or trust funds (maybe for some people it is but not everyone thankfully). Actually, a lot of people are just getting really creative, and strategic, about how they make it work.
They Own Property
So, this one’s a big one. Some travelers aren’t just wanderers, they’re smart with their real estate. Usually, this means that they’re renting out a home or vacation property, since this can bring in consistent income that covers flights, lodging, and everything in between.
In a lot of cases, people list their space on platforms like Airbnb and let someone else handle the hassle. A lot of property owners look into management companies like Emperor Rentals since they pretty much take care of everything all at once. It’s pretty ideal if you want to make money from your home (or whatever you own), but don’t have to deal with all the stressors that come with it.
They’re Digital Nomads
Actually, working on the road is more doable now than it’s ever been. For the most part, remote jobs aren’t just for tech pros anymore. There are online teachers, virtual assistants, designers, writers, customer support agents, you name it.
And yeah, there are plenty of freelancers, too. So, as long as there’s Wi-Fi and a decent coffee shop nearby, it’s possible to build a workday around new places. However, it’s not like “sitting at the beach with your laptop in hand” like people make it out to be, it’s not even remotely close to that.
They’re Content Creators
At this rate, who doesn’t know about this one? A lot of bloggers, TikTokers, Photographers, and YouTubers do this method. Sometimes they’ll travel somewhere popular in hopes they’ll get money for their content, others will only travel if it’s sponsored (like a press trip for example).
Don’t expect to post something and immediately get money; it doesn’t work like that, and it usually takes years (and a major investment in equipment and building your brand).
They Just Save and Go
Not everyone is traveling full-time. Some people take a more old-school route. They work, save, budget, and go. Maybe it takes a year. Maybe it takes five. But when the savings hit a certain number, it’s time to cash in on the adventure.
Usually, it just comes down to penny-pitching and self-control with purchases so they can enjoy the experience. Sure, it’s not glamorous like the others, but this is technically how most people do it.
