Desert Views and Arizona Sunsets: Photos from our Homestead

Fall and Winter offers some of the most stunning desert views and Arizona sunsets. Dinner time in the Winter at our property in Arizona is often perfect weather. Nice cool temperatures and very little wind make for amazing evenings cooking out and enjoying some music and food.

Since we tend to spend our evenings outside in the Winter, I end up taking a ton of photos of our views and our sunsets. Of course Arizona sunsets are infamous and make up the design of the Arizona state license plate. Sometimes it feels like they modeled the license plate from a photo taken from our property.

Without further Ado, please enjoy some of my photographs of desert views and Arizona Sunsets that I have taken over the last few months!

Desert Views from our Property in Arizona

This first photo is one that demonstrates the views from our property. Sure there is a structure or small house here and there but overall we have pristine desert and desert mountain views from all over our property. We love seeing the cactus, the ocotillo, and all the other wild plant life! In late spring and summer all of these plants will light up with colorful flowers.

Arizona Sunsets from Our Property

As day becomes night, our view changes. The focus shifts from the vast desert landscape to the skies. Stephanie swears she can tell how colorful the sunset will be based on how many clouds are in the sky. For the most part she seems to be right so she is probably on to something.

Our property is essentially on the side of a hill. The slope is not too bad, but in order to level our van we had to build a retaining wall and haul in tons of fill to give us a nice level spot to park our van. Being on the side of a hill gives us incredible Arizona sunsets. We love looking out at Golden Hour and seeing all the layers of mountains in the distance.

This view is from our front driveway. Once again, the clouds are doing wild things and it just makes the sunset project incredibly vivid colors. The orange was particularly spectacular on this evening but other nights the sunset is more purple, or a bit more yellow. While never quite the same, the sunsets are almost always stunning.

In our next photo we see the same Arizona sunset from the same viewpoint, just zoomed in a bit. I really wanted to try and catch the layers in the mountains in the distance.

This next photo is from the same sunset, just a few moments later as the sun continues to set. Arizona sunsets can come and go pretty quickly.

Finally, the sun is nearly fully down and the night sky takes over. Night time can get very dark on our property so we have added lighting around our pad so we can see and it adds some ambiance to our dinner time.

Final Thoughts on Desert Views and Arizona Sunsets on our Property

The desert views from our property have been one of the most incredible parts about living off-grid in Arizona. We have very few neighbors so we have a desert view from anywhere on our grounds.

The Arizona Sunsets have also been an added bonus. We are usually cooking or eating dinner during the sunset. So when the weather is nice and the sunset is colorful, we end up with a pretty spectacular dinner show. Such an experience is one we enjoy sharing with our friends and family and really one of the greatest draws to living our life the way we do in the place we live.
