Visiting Buc-ee’s and All it has to Offer

Our experience with Buc-ee’s is a fun and memorable one. Overtime visiting Buc-ee’s has become a family tradition. The story is that my mother has moved to Texas and has lived there for a few years now. Since living there she has been enthralled with the size of different things in Texas, sort of the everything is bigger in Texas cliche—but in a lot of ways it is true. One of the best examples of large things in Texas is Buc-ee’s. So since she was interested in the Texas cliche, one of the biggest gas station/convenience store you could imagine, was right up her alley.

She visited Buc-ee’s a few times as they drove back and forth visiting Texas prior to moving and during their trips back and forth between Colorado and Texas. Of course it was a big hit for her and a place she now takes guests when they come to visit in Texas.

Buc-ees

The allure to Buc-ee’s really is the sheer size of the stores. They boast the world record for The Largest Convenience Store for their store in Luling, Texas which is over 75000 square feet. We went to the location in New Braunsfels, Texas which is enormous as well, coming in at 66,000 square feet. The point is these store are enormous.

Inside the Buc-ee’s stores is everything you can imagine a convenience store having, and much more. The seem to be known for their beef jerky and Buc-ee’s nuggets. There are so many flavors of beef jerky. There is an entire row with bags and bags of differently seasoned dried beef. The nuggets are a crispy fried corn dough. The original flavor is caramelized, but they have a wide variety of flavors, some sweet and savory.

Beyond those snacks there is a full restaurant. You can get barbecue sandwiches and different desserts fresh made right on site. The roasted nuts was one of the highlight smells for me.

Beyond the food there is an entire merchandise store. There is clothing, decorations, and toys. They also have a lot of outdoor items in case you are on a camping trip. I mean Buc-ee’s has so much merchandise, it is difficult to explain, you really have to visit to understand.

Final Thoughts on Buc-ee’s

Buc-ee’s is an experience. It is one of those places that once you visit it will become a tradition for the family on road trips. There is something for everyone in the family to find amusing and there really is no better place to stock up on snacks for the road. Since we visited the location in New Braunsfels, we also visited the location in Johnstown, Colorado, which happens to be pretty close to where I grew up. It is not quite as big, but it still comes with all the excitement of the larger stores.
